Videos provided by: Japan Institute for Sign Language Studies

  • Signs listed below are based on surveys conducted by the Japan Institute for Sign Language Studies - Research Section of Foreign Sign Languages, with the cooperation of Deaf people in each country.
  • Survey respondents have kindly provided written consent concerning survey procedures and the publication of survey results.
  • Signs are performed by a Japanese Deaf person on behalf of each country to avoid complications with copyrights.
  • Since Sign Language varies between individuals, regions, and generations, Signs other than the ones shown here may exist within the country.
